  • The app offers similar functionalities to the website, allowing you to search for routes, compare fares, and purchase tickets directly from your phone.

Megabus Stop

Megabus, unlike some bus companies, doesn't operate its own physical bus stations. Instead, they strategically utilize existing stations and curbside locations across their network in the United States and Canada. Here's how it works:

Finding Your Megabus Stop:

History

Megabus Takes Off in the US (2006):

  • In April 2006, Megabus (Europe) launched its brand in the US through its bus company, Coach USA.
  • They started with daily routes connecting Chicago to many other cities like Milwaukee and Detroit.

West Coast Expansion and Setbacks (2007-2008):

  • In 2007, Megabus ventured into California and Arizona with stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
  • Unfortunately, passenger numbers were low, and Megabus had to shut down services in these areas by mid-2008.

East Coast Growth and Return to the West (2008-2012):

  • Later in 2008, Megabus focused on the East Coast, offering routes to major cities like New York, Boston, and Washington D.C.
  • They also added stops in cities like Syracuse and Hartford.
  • By 2012, Megabus made a comeback on the West Coast, including stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Sacramento.
  • This time, they used train stations and bus transfer points for easier connections.

Change of Ownership (2019):

  • In April 2019, Megabus (North America) was sold to a new company called Variant Equity Advisors.
